The Namib and Kalahari Desert’s dominate Southern Africa’s arid landscapes. One might imagine these harsh environments as being monotonous and barren of life, but that’s far from reality. Although vast and unforgiving, deserts are home to an array of the plant as well as animal life. An extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna, ranging from succulent plants to the elusive pangolin exists in these lands. It is a marvel that humans have long carved out desert lives and one of the most fascinating aspects of traveling through Southern Africa is taking in the ancient rock art.
