Franschhoek
Founded by French Huguenots over 350 years ago, Franschhoek village is regarded as the culinary capital of South Africa. Here, fine dining establishments and an artisanal route feature the finest chocolate, olives, cheeses, charcuterie and baked goods. It lies at the foot of the magnificent Franschhoek and Drakenstein mountains and guesthouses, café lined streets, antique stores, art galleries, bakeries and the chocolaterie evoke a fantastically French flair.
Stellenbosch
With records dating back to 1679, Stellenbosch is steeped in history and charm. Mighty oak trees line the streets and frame surviving examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architecture that are famous in the Cape. The Stellenbosch wine route is the oldest in South Africa, established in 1971 and constantly evolving to spotlight the spectacular varietals of the region.
